You can buy fresh, local produce and support regional farmers at farmers markets and stands.

Select farmers markets also offer free workshops and cooking demonstrations.

You can get discounts and coupons to buy produce at farmers markets if you:

  • Receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
  • Are an older adult
  • Attend nutrition education workshops

All year-round farmers markets accept SNAP.

Stellar Farmers Markets offer free nutrition education workshops and cooking demonstrations. They run from July through November.

At the workshops, you can learn how to prepare fresh and healthy meals. They are held in multiple languages.

If you are 18 years or older, you will get a $2 Health Bucks coupon for attending. Health Bucks are $2 coupons you can use to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at all NYC farmers markets.

Low-income older adults (also known as seniors) can get coupons to exchange for fruits, vegetables, and culinary herbs at participating farmers markets and farm stands.

Coupons are being distributed to older adults from July 1st until September 30th.

Health Bucks are $2 coupons you can use to buy fresh  at all NYC farmers markets.

SNAP Recipients

If you receive SNAP, you can get Health Bucks. For every $2 spent at farmers markets using SNAP benefits on an EBT card, you?can get $2 in Health Bucks. You can get up to $10 per day.

Health Bucks are available year-round at NYC farmers markets that accept EBT.

Community and Faith-Based Organizations

Organizations can receive free Health Bucks to distribute to community members as an incentive to participate in nutrition education and other health-related activities.

The 2025 application for free Health Bucks will be available in Spring 2025.

All year-round farmers markets accept EBT.
