Beginning January 1, 2025, children who are fully eligible for Medicaid or subsidized Child Health Plus will receive continuous eligibility, regardless of a change in income, through the end of the month of the child’s sixth birthday.  

A child’s Medicaid or Child Health Plus coverage could end before they turn age six if:

• The child moves out of New York State;
• The child’s family requests to have their coverage ended; 
• The child’s notices are returned as undeliverable, re-processed and returned again as undeliverable; 
• NY State of Health determines the eligibility was erroneously granted at the most recent determination or redetermination of eligibility due to agency error or fraud, abuse or perjury attributed to the child or the parent/guardian.

Children 0-3 years old who receive Early Intervention Services can also receive other benefits such as:

• Prescription drugs
• Doctor visits
• Hospital stays
• Wheelchairs and hearing aids
• Immunizations
• Dental Care

By speaking with a Child Benefits Advisor, you may qualify even if you have health insurance.
