You can get treatment and support to help you quit smoking cigarettes or vaping.

Resources are also available if you need help to:

  • Cut back on smoking or vaping
  • Avoid smoking or vaping when you want to (like when at home, at work, or in public spaces)

New York State Smokers’ Quitline

You can talk to a quit coach for support. Adults can also apply for a free starter kit of nicotine medications, like patches and lozenges.

is a free, confidential text messaging program to help people 13 to 24 quit vaping. To sign up, text DROPTHEVAPE to 88709.

Talk to your doctor about medications and counseling to help you quit, cut back, or avoid smoking or vaping when you want to.

Most health insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover tobacco treatment services.

Tobacco Treatment Programs

There are free or low-cost programs across the city that provide treatment support.
